After 2 years of not being able to hold our annual Alcott all school Field Day it is back and scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 9:00 am- 12:00 pm (Raindate is Friday, June 3, 2022). We will have the entire school outside on our back fields and blacktops participating in 11 stations. We need between 35-40 parent volunteers to make this day a huge success for our students. So dust off those sneakers, get your sunscreen ready and join us for an awesome morning of fun and games.
*** Please respond before Friday, May 21, 2022, so I can plan accordingly. You can email Mr.G at tgaudreau@concordps.org ***
All volunteers need to have a current CORI filled out with our office, if yours has expired the office can get you signed up quickly, just reach out to them.
The annual Holiday Fair is being reimagined as a Spring Fair and is happening on May 18 (rain date, May 25). The fair will be held during school hours and will include games and activities, a raffle, a used book sale, and perhaps some crafts for sale. This will be led by 5th graders in conjunction with their teachers for the enjoyment of the lower grades. We are already in contact with many of you who have indicated an interest in helping out. We’re planning a kick-off zoom on Friday March 4 at 10am, anyone else interested is warmly invited to attend. We’ll circulate a zoom invite the week prior.
All are welcome to attend.

Apr 7: Grades K-5 conferences
Save the date! Math Night 2022: Thursday, March 31st 4:30-7:30. Alcott PTG invites you to Mathlandia! We are requesting families to register for Math Night here to help us manage the capacity.
Join us for a fun family evening of math games and prizes. Family Math night is intended for ALL Alcott grade levels focused on having fun with math! We have something for everyone, even a math playground for younger kids (K-2). Win cool Prizes & Raffles.
Do not forget to ask your kids about the special math estimation game they will play during their classroom book fair visit. “Can you estimate how many plastic eggs would fit in a 5 gallon water jug?“
Do you know a middle school or high school Alcott alum who is in need of community service hours? We are looking for student volunteers to help run the math games at Math Night- we would love to welcome back Alcott alumni to help out! Note that all volunteers need to be fully vaccinated.
Here is the preliminary schedule for classroom visits- please note that these times may change and your teacher should confirm the day to send in money. See the Frequently Asked Questions below for more details about what to expect for the Book Fair.

Alcott Classroom Visit and Open House Book Fair Volunteers
Book Fair Open House
We will hold an open house for families to come to Alcott after school to visit the book fair and participate in Math Night on Thursday, March 31st, 4:30-7:30. Families will be welcome to drop by the book fair during the event- no sign-up necessary.
We also will need volunteers to support this event!
Volunteer Opportunities
To make both the open house and the classroom visits successful, we will need volunteers. Please sign-up here Alcott Classroom Visit and Open House Book Fair Volunteers to help. As a reminder, you will need an active CORI as well as be fully vaccinated to volunteer. Stop by the Alcott office with your photo ID if you need a CORI ASAP!
1. WHEN WILL THE BOOK FAIR TAKE PLACE? The Book Fair is March 28th through March 31st. Parents can visit the Book Fair during the Math Night/Book Fair event the evening of Thursday March 31st. Watch the Owl for more details on how to sign up to volunteer and to attend the event on the 31st.
2. DOES MY CHILD GET TO VISIT THE BOOK FAIR? Yes, your child’s teacher will be accompanying his/her class to the Book Fair during the school day the week of March 28th-March 31st. Teachers should notify parents which day your student is visiting the Book Fair so that you know when to send in money to buy books.
3. WHAT IS AVAILABLE AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? We provide appropriate books for every reading level and budget to keep the kids excited about reading! We even stock adult titles! Easy readers usually cost $4.99, paperbacks start from $5.99, hardcover and specialty books start at about $12.99. Note that no accessories (pencils, erasers, fidgets, etc) will be sold during the classroom visits.
4. HOW DO WE PAY FOR OUR SELECTIONS? We accept cash, check (made out to “Alcott PTG”) and even credit cards (from adults only!) Remember to send a little extra for the sales tax.
5. WHO WILL HELP MY CHILD FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO? You are more than welcome to come and volunteer when your child’s class is visiting the Book Fair. There is a link posted on the Alcott Owl to sign up and volunteer. Volunteers must have a valid CORI on file and be fully vaccinated. If you are unable to do so, we will have volunteer parents on hand.
6. HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU RECOMMEND I GIVE MY CHILD? We find children usually bring between $10, $15 or even $20 dollars depending on how many books you decide is appropriate.
7. WHAT IF WE FORGET TO SEND IN MONEY OR WE CAN’T ATTEND? We provide a “wish list” card that your child can fill out to bring home with their choices. You may purchase your child’s books at the Open House on Thursday March 31st.
8. CAN I BUY BOOKS ON LINE? Our Book Fair this year is in person and online orders are not available.
9. CAN I BUY A BOOK TO DONATE TO MY CHILD’S CLASSROOM or FAVORITE TEACHER? Yes! We will have a table at the Book Fair with Teacher/Classroom “Wish Bins” filled by each teacher with their favorite books along with books requested for the library! It’s a great way to grow a classroom library or get a book for a favorite teacher! We will have Book Plate stickers for your student to personalize their gift.
10. STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? Thank you for your support of the Alcott Book Fair Fundraiser. Please email Book Fair questions to Shannon Winn at scstoval@gmail.com.
All are welcome to attend.
