PTG Highlights: Welcome back, Library Help, STEAM Lab Open House, Alcott Open House, B2SN, PAL, SEPAC, Community Events, Happening at Alcott

Welcome back!! We’re looking forward to another great year at Alcott with our wonderful staff, teachers and volunteers!! Our Parent Teacher Group is made up of parents/guardians who volunteer their efforts in order to provide enrichment to our students such as Children’s Programming, Math Night and Before/After School Workshops, just to name a few. We hope you’ll join us in volunteering and help provide our kids with fun and new experiences!! Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 4 at 9:30am in the Faculty Lounge. We hope to see you there!!

Library Volunteers Needed: The Alcott School Library Media Center relies on a network of parent volunteers. Under the guidance of Library Volunteer Coordinators, volunteers are recruited and trained at the start of each school year, and a volunteer schedule is created to cover all classes for that school year. Volunteer tasks include: circulation of material, shelving and shelf reading, assisting students with book selection, and housekeeping. Volunteers are asked to commit to a biweekly or weekly schedule. Openings remain in the following classes: Luby, Peduzzi, Martin, Wilson, Gleason, McMahon, Woodman, LoRusso, Hardiman, McSweeney, Sexauer, Besserer, Forseter, Delaney. STEAM Innovation Lab: Come join Grand Opening and Open House of STEAM Innovation Lab at Ripley Building, 120 Meriam Road, Concord on Monday, August 26, 1 - 3pm and Tuesday, August 27, 1-3pm. For more information please see this poster

Open House/ Meet the Teacher: You and your child are invited to attend an Open House on August 27 from 8:30am to 9:30am. This is a great opportunity to visit the classroom and meet your child’s new teacher!  

Back to School Night: Mark your calendars!! Back to School Night is Tuesday, Sept. 10

  • Grades 4 and 5 from 6:30 - 7:00pm

  • Grades 2 and 3 from 7:00 - 7:30pm

  • Grades K and 1 from 7:30 - 8:00pm

Come visit the PTG to say hello, pay your dues, ask any questions and to volunteer!!

The Parent at Lunch Program: Each month parents have the opportunity to join their child (or children) at lunch! The first Parent at Lunch for this school year is Friday September 27th. The sign up for the lunch is via the Google documents link here. The program is limited to 8 spots per grade and the office must be able to verify your CORI status for you to attend. The name you sign up with on the Google Doc should match the name on your license EXACTLY. In order to attend PAL, you must have an approved CORI on file with Alcott. CORI’s are valid for 3 years and each organization/school is required to have their own CORI. When you complete the CORI form, the school must also view a photo ID such as a driver’s license. Back to School night is a good opportunity to complete the form. Once a grade is full, we use a wait list for the next month. Names on the wait list have priority for the next month’s lunch. Get to know the SEPAC: It is a volunteer parent advisory council that advises the school committees and administration on matters pertaining to the education and safety of children with disabilities. In addition, through social events, and informative presentations we support, connect, and educate parents, caregivers and the community about special education. We are here to support you throughout you and your child’s educational journey in our schools. For more information, please see this letter.

Alcott Field Day is June 4th! Remember to apply sunscreen and bring your water bottle!

Alcott Family Fun Night is June 6th at 5:30-8pm. Pack a picnic and bring the whole family. DJ with dancing and games and field games as well as face painting. Ice cream truck @6-7:30, bring $1-$4 per treat and make sure to tell Sweet Pete’s truck if you have any allergies when ordering. Rain date June 7. Remember water bottles and sunscreen if it’s a sunny evening.

Please join us at the SEPAC Board Meeting! The Concord Public Schools and Concord-Carlisle Regional School District Special Education Parent Advisory Council would like to invite you to our final Board meeting of the year. When: Thursday, 6th June from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Where: Conference Room, Hunt Recreation Center, 90 Stow Street. Please enter through the glass doors by the basketball courts which are on the left hand side of the building. We have a couple of open seats left on the 2019-2020 SEPAC Board. Please consider joining a community of parents who work together to ensure our students get the very best education possible. If you would like to be involved but don’t have much time to spare; we have many small tasks that can be done from home at anytime of the day. PTG Highlights: Alcott Variety Show is Friday, 5/31!

The Alcott Variety Show is this Friday, May 31st at 6pm!

The show takes place in the Alcott Auditorium, doors will open at 5:30pm. Please consider buying raffle tickets for the 50/50 raffle! Ticket are $5 each or 3/$10. All proceeds will go to the 6th Floor Pediatric Oncology Unit at Boston Children's Hospital.
