A Special Thanks from the PTG! Wow! Thank you so much to all the volunteers who lent their time, room parents who organized the raffle baskets and families who brought their school spirit to make this our best Fall Fest EVER! We are still tallying the amount raised, but with nearly 200 families attending, we did have a record turn-out this year! We appreciate your time, energy and commitment to supporting our Alcott community and programs!

Before School Sports Workshop: 1st & 2nd Grades:  Come get your yaya’s out before school with Ms. Curran and Ms. Flannery running, jumping and playing games. Alcott Multicultural Event: A committee is currently being formed to plan and organize for the 1st annual Alcott Multicultural Event in March! This event will include food, dance, music, language, crafts, geography and more from the countries our student body represents. Turkey Trot: The Alcott School Turkey Trot is scheduled to take place next Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 9:30-11:45 at the Emerson Track. Our pledges this year will be helping Open Table and the Concord Recreation Department Scholarship Fund. Intelligent Lives: JOIN US FOR A FREE SCREENING OF THE FILM, Monday, October 28th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at RJ Grey Junior High School Auditorium, 16 Charter Road, Acton. Co-sponsored by the Acton-Boxborough, Concord/Concord-Carlisle, Maynard, and Sudbury Special Education Parent Advisory Councils. Dan Habib’s film “Intelligent Lives” follows three young adults, who have developmental or intellectual disabilities, challenging the perceptions of intelligence while navigating high school, college and the workforce. The film will be followed by a talk from Melanie Perkins McLaughlin, M.Ed., who was a consulting producer for "Intelligent Lives". Pre-registration is requested for this event; if you would like any further information, please contact abrsdsepac@gmail.com.

Cradles to Crayons: is Seeking Donations by Saturday, October 26th! Please check your kids' closets for gently used clothing, shoes, toys, children's books, and baby gear. All donations must be dropped off to the purple C2C bin at the Concord District Court at 305 Walden Street by Saturday, as they will be picked up the next morning for a community sorting event. Thank you advance and please be sure to check this list for more details on what they can and cannot accept. Plimoth Plantation Educator: On October 9th, students in the 3rd grade classes were visited by a museum teacher from Plimoth Plantation to learn about the daily life of the Wampanoag in the 17th century as well as their current lives and communities.

Alcott Book Fair : In addition to class visits, the Book Fair will also be open at dismissal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for parents who wish to visit with their students. Questions about when your child will attend and how the Book Fair works? Download the Book Fair FAQ or view the class visit list. Be sure to look for your teacher’s Wish Basket. If you purchase a "wish" book to donate to the classroom, please remember to fill out a book plate sticker before you check out.

Exciting Art Room News: Thanks to a generous grant from the Concord Education Fund, we have just received a shipment of new, reusable, environmentally-friendly Art Bags! We will use these bags to take home art portfolios and sculptures this year. When your child comes home with one of these bags, please make sure to send it right back to school, so that we can reuse the bags all year long. Kids can drop them off in the Art Room any time.

Screenagers: CCHS Parents Association presents Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience. On October 24 at 7:00-9:00pm in the CCHS Auditorium, the CCHS Parents Association will be hosting the movie screening of the follow-up documentary to SCREENAGERS: Growing Up In The Digital Age (www.screenagersmovie.com). This film examines the science behind teen's emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age. Halloween Costume Donations: Don't forget to dig out those previously used Halloween Costumes and donate them to Concord Family Network! There is one week left in CFN's Costume Drive, so please send in gently used costumes for children ages 1-10 and place them in the donation box in the main school hallway, or drop them off at the Concord Rec Hunt building on Stow St. CFN will use the costumes for their annual Halloween Party and Costume Swap & Sale with part of the proceeds going to First Connections to support new mothers and families. Fall Fest Tickets, Coffee Raffle and Basket Raffles Tickets on Sale on Tuesday October 15th at Dismissal: Are you not able to attend the Fall Fest on October 19th but still want to support the PTG by buying Basket Raffle tickets? NEW this year, you may buy basket raffle tickets at dismissal on Tuesday the 15th at pre-sale prices and put them in the theme containers.  Winners do NOT need to be present to win and will be contacted via email or text message to pick up their baskets.

Halloween Costume Donations: Concord Family Network is collecting gently used Halloween costumes (in good conditions) for children ages 1-10. A donation box will be stationed in the main school hallway until Friday, October 25, and a second donation box has been placed at the Concord Recreation Hunt building. The costumes will be used for CFN's Halloween Party and Costume Swap & Sale on Sunday, October 27th from 10-11:30am at Concord Scout House. Fall Fest Specialty Raffle: An Alcott family has generously donated a Breadstand Household Machine, a professional café machine simplified for home use, to support the PTG and Children's Programs. Raffle tickets for this specialty item are $10 each and can be purchased here or at school dismissal on Tuesday October 15th, and at Fall Fest on Saturday October 19th. Alcott Fall Fest Event and Raffle Tickets On Sale Now! Event tickets and raffle tickets are available for now! Purchase your raffle tickets here and pick up them at the check-in desk on your way into Fall Fest. PTG Fall Fundraiser: Get a head start on holiday shopping with our fall fundraiser! The selection combines the best of all fundraising worlds: kitchen, candles, food, gift wrap, home decor, baking, jewelry, games, cleaning, and tech gifts. There is something for everyone to enjoy!
