Book Fair and Math Night

The Book Fair and Math Night are coming up in March! Classroom visits to the Book Fair will take place March 25 - 27 during the school day. SAVE THE DATE of Thursday 3/27 for Book Fair open house and Math Night!! Adults and kids of all ages are invited to check out the Book Fair in the auditorium starting at 4:00 and also participate in a series of math games from around the world in the gym. There will be prizes and lots of fun! Math Night will run from 4:30-6:30. There is no need to sign up in advance! Be on the lookout for volunteer sign-ups coming soon.

Exciting Art Fundraiser Coming to Alcott!!!

Hello families! During the next few weeks your child will be creating a very special art masterpiece at school that you will have the opportunity to purchase on unique gifts and keepsakes to enjoy for a lifetime! In March you will receive a catalogue featuring your child's artwork with more information detailing how you can place your orders. Think of all the treasured gifts you can get for Mother's Day, Father's Day, grandparents' birthdays, etc. And, best of all, a portion of the proceeds from the sales will go right back to Alcott. So stay tuned for more information about this exciting opportunity and let's celebrate all of our incredible artists!

In order to raise money, we will charge a small admission fee and have concessions available. Games will be streamed, and there will also be fun activities. All grades are welcome!

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is coming to Alcott this spring!  We're looking for third, fourth, and fifth grade girls to join our team this season. We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays to complete lessons, games, and workouts that will prepare us for a joyful 5K at the end of our season. See more information here.

-Substitute teachers needed- Substitute teachers play a vital role in our school community, and currently there is a huge shortage of substitute teachers. This causes a real strain on the day to day activities for our teachers, staff and students. If you are Interested in learning more about substitute teaching in Concord, please visit this website. Multicultural Night at CCHS!

On Monday, March 3rd, Class Government will host the 5th annual Multi-Cultural Food Festival.  We require 40 additional families to volunteer to bring in food and host a table.  If you cannot attend the event, we can arrange for volunteers to host your table if you are willing to drop off food.  If you are willing to bring food, please fill out the google form by clicking this link. Culture can be defined broadly. Whether you have a cultural affinity from being a recent immigrant, your family immigrating generations ago, your religion, having lived in another country, or just have fallen in love with a specific culture, we want you! The Multicultural Food Fest is an amazing opportunity for us to come together as a community to celebrate our differences and learn what unites us through the presentation of food and performances from different cultures.

Morning String Orchestra – Before School Program 3/7 – 5/2 @ 8am-8:50amCan't get enough Orchestra? Join to further develop your ensemble playing skills on your string instrument. This is an extra enrichment class that is meant to augment your child's ensemble skills. 

Kids Test Kitchen- Friday 3/7 – 4/11@ 3:30pm-4:30pm. Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to get young eaters cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients! Let’s continue to redefine kid food; one lesson, and one child at a time!

Multicultural Night

Thank you to the many families who participated in, and attended, Alcott's Multicultural Night last Friday. It was a great success, with over 15 tables showcasing our school community's great cultural diversity. We are thankful for this tradition and for our community.

Camp Swiftie August 2025!

New Taylor Swift camp for ages 7-12 run by Arlington mom Dana Lynne Varga will take place in August in Lexington at Follen church! Dana designed Camp Swiftie with parents in mind, to cover those tricky last weeks of August when camps are hard to find.

CCHS Interact Club Event

The faculty advisor of the CCHS Interact Club and is reaching out to spread the word about an event the students have organized. On Wednesday February 26th from 6:30-7:30. The students have two doctors from Newton Wellesley coming to the CCHS Learning Commons to discuss Opioid use and provide a Narcan training to save lives during an overdose -- attendees will receive a Narcan kit to take with them. Narcan is a life saving medicine that can help during an opioid overdose.  The presentation will address teen, adult, and elderly opioid use, particularly prescriptions, and walk through the Narcan training. Please see attached flyer for more information.

PK Dance Center Summer 2025 Sessions

Registration is now open for special weeklong sessions this summer at PK Dance Center (located at 191 Sudbury Road in Concord)! There are 6 weeks to choose from starting the week of June 23 through August 11 and options for ages 4 through 18. Discover each session's unique theme - including, Taylor Swift Eras, Wicked Week, Choreography Week, and more! Each session is Monday-Friday, 9am-1pm every day, with the option to extend to 4pm. PTG Valentine’s Day Plan for Teachers and Staff

The PTG will celebrate our teachers and staff with a sweet Valentine’s treat this year, in lieu of the roses of years past. There will be opportunities to show your love and appreciation for the teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week!

Rep. Cataldo/Emerson Diaper Drive

Can you imagine going a day (or even part of a day) without diapers for your child? Did you know that diapers cannot be purchased using federal SNAP (“food stamps”) or the state’s WIC benefits? Families in our community who cannot afford diapers rely on the generosity of nonprofits to obtain this essential and expensive item. From February 3 – 14, State Representative Simon Cataldo and Emerson Hospital are collaborating on a diaper drive for area families in need. You can purchase diapers using the QR code (Amazon.com) or drop them off at the addresses listed in the graphic. All diapers will be distributed to families by First Connections, an area nonprofit.

Pianist Ivan Gusev joins the IMSCC faculty this month!

IMSCC welcomes pianist Ivan Gusev! Ivan performs regularly as a solo pianist, chamber musician and church organist, and is a passionate and dedicated educator - learn more here. The Winter-Spring session is just starting up and new students are welcome to sign up! In addition to piano lessons, IMSCC offers lessons for all band and orchestra instruments, voice, guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele. Click here to inquire about lessons. Fowler Library Offerings

Fowler’s Craft Lab: Winter Seed Sow

Wednesday, February 12, 2-4:30pm (all ages, drop in): Join us for a special Craft Lab! We will plant native seeds that require cold weather to germinate in milk jugs. Drop in anytime between 2 and 4:30pm (planting seeds will take about 20 minutes), and you will go home with 2-3 mini-greenhouses with different plants that you will be able to transplant in the spring.

Fowler's Craft Lab: Safe Routes to School Yard Sign Contest

Wednesday, February 19, 4-5pm (ages 14 and under): For this week's Craft Lab, let's talk helmet safety! The Concord Library is proud to be a Safe Routes to School community partner. We will be joined by Massachusetts Safe Routes to School ambassadors and Mothers Out Front to create designs to enter in this year's SRTS yard sign contest.

Thoreau’s Backyard: Grounds for Play

Hi Alcott families! Have you heard the news? Our community is coming together to help build Thoreau’s Backyard, a brand-new playground at Thoreau Elementary, bringing joy, exploration, and learning to local children. This project is funded entirely by philanthropy. Visit our website to sign up for updates, learn more about our inclusive design, fundraising goals, a list of donors and timeline—and to make a gift!

Concord-Carlisle Youth Softball Registration

It is time for spring softball registration! The season runs from the week after April vacation through the first week of June. 

Registration will remain open until February 14. Beginning on February 15 there will be a $50 late fee - REGISTER NOW. For a division-by-division breakdown of program structures and schedules, please visit our website.

CCHS Girls Youth Basketball Clinic

On Saturday, February 8 from 9:00-12:00pm, come for a fun basketball clinic and pizza lunch at CCHS with CCHS Varsity Coach Dave Cohen, his coaching staff, and varsity players. The clinic is open to girls grades 1-8. Cost is $60 per participant - all proceeds directly support the program. Register NOW before spots fill up.

No prior basketball experience necessary: the clinic is designed to be both competitive and fun. Players will be broken up appropriately by age/skill level. Please bring clean sneakers and a water bottle. We’ll provide pizza.

CCYL Girls 1st/2nd Grade Spring Lacrosse

This is an 8-week in-house program on SUNDAYS from 10-11:15 am on the CCHS Upper Grass Field. The first session is April 6 (weather permitting). Players will be grouped by age and ability within the session, to make it a great experience for all. Register here.
