School Picture Day is Tuesday, May 4 (Rain Date May 7): Picture Day is on!! You should have received an order form in your child's backpack this week- if you didn't no worries!! Go to www.coffeepond.com and follow the prompts to order your child's portraits online.
Wanted: Picture Day Volunteers! Yes, you read that right!! We need some help on Tuesday, May 4 to help everything run smoothly. We will be outside, socially distanced, and limited numbers. You will assist a photographer in managing lines, collecting forms (in a bucket for no contact), and remind students to be distanced. Sign up here.
Alcott Bike-to-School Day - Wednesday May 5: Bike (and Walk)-to-School Day is a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) event sponsored by the Concord Police Department and Concord Public Schools. Participating families can meet at the Keyes Rd parking lot at 8:30am to join the police-escorted "bike train" to Alcott as well as reverse the route after 3:25pm dismissal. Additional officers will be posted to support student crossings of Lowell Rd at the Reformatory Branch Trail, and at Lexington Rd by Heywood St. It is by far the most fun way to get to school!
FUEL your child’s education today - Alcott PTG Fund to Uphold Education and Learning (FUEL): FUEL your child’s education today by contributing to our annual appeal! Typically the PTG spends over $135 per student/year to provide valuable enhancements to their school experience. This year the PTG prioritized funds for families impacted by Covid-19.
The appeal campaign supplements PTG fundraising efforts with with a goal to raise $15,000 from our community. We are asking you to help us achieve our target through your gift today!
Donate here via Paypal or credit card. Donate $100 or more and receive an Alcott blanket. You can also send cash or a check (payable to “Alcott PTG” with “annual appeal” in memo) back to school with your child in a sealed envelope. LOOK FOR THE FLYER IN YOUR CHILD’S BAG IN THE COMING WEEKS!
The Alcott Year-End Tournament has finally arrived!!! You won't want to miss it. It's our annual chess tournament for Alcott students, and this year, being online, it will include Sudbury elementary schools! It will be bigger and more fun than ever. Email Ken Belt at alcottchess@hotmail.com and he'll send you a tournament flyer pronto. Vacation is over. There's not much time to sign up. You'll be glad you did! Also, Alcott Chess continues to thrive online with ongoing instruction and games. It's never too late to join in the fun! Email Ken Belt at alcottchess@hotmail.com. Concord Bike Rodeo: Saturday May 1, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Cousins Park, 8A Brown St, Concord, MA. Registration encouraged but not required via Facebook Event Page. Bring your masks, bikes, helmets, and all your gear as we'll be instructing kids from any school to develop and practice skills that will help them to become better bicyclists right away. You and your kids will leave with more confidence and bike-savvy, ready to have more fun than ever on two wheels. *The park is located at the end of Brown Street. Parking is on the surrounding local roads.
What YOU will bring: Kids (parents are good too, leashed dogs welcome), masks, bikes, helmets, water/snacks, floor pump for bike tires (optional)
What WE will bring: Traffic cones, sidewalk chalk, sample road signs, an extra kid bike or two just to have available, handouts, stickers, and swag.
What EVERYONE will bring: An excellent attitude!!!
A Spring in Your Step: Virtual Wellness Event TONIGHT: Join the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital on Thursday, April 29 at 7:00 pm for another virtual event in our wellness series as panelists discuss eating cleanly to nourish our bodies and finding the beauty in nature to nourish our minds. A great night in, this webinar will cover ideas for creating a spring-themed dinner, planning healthful grab-and-go lunches, and discovering Forest Bathing, an age-old method of meditation in nature. CFPL & Through Me to You Puppetry: The Concord Free Public Library will host a free puppet show featuring Through Me to You Puppetry on the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm, May 13, June 10, July 8, and Aug 12. Join Newton and his puppet friends for some storytime fun! Newton & Friends take turns reading stories and singing songs with the kids. At the end of the show, children are invited to “unmute” and say hi to Newton. The half-hour Zoom show is geared to ages 3-7, but all are welcome! Concord Children’s Center is Celebrating its 45th Anniversary! Concord Children’s Center will be celebrating its 45th anniversary in April with a series of small-scale, COVID-safe events that are open to all.
Family Scavenger Hunt: A fun activity for the entire family! Download a scavenger hunt form and then find the picture of the decorated “45” at participating local businesses from Monday, April 12-Tuesday, April 27. Return your completed sheet to CCC Development Coordinator Jennifer Saxe and get one entry for the child’s prize in our 45th anniversary raffle!
Raffle: The grand finale of CCC’s 45th anniversary celebrations! On Thursday, April 29, we will be holding a virtual raffle at 8:30 p.m. Participants have the chance to win one of five prizes, with one of these prizes being just for kids! Allocate your raffle tickets among the five prizes however you wish — apply them all to one prize or divvy them up among a few items. You do not need to be on the raffle call to win. Raffle tickets will be on sale from Monday, April 12-Tuesday, April 27, and are 1/$10, 3/$25, or 10/$75. Massachusetts law does not provide for the sale of raffle tickets on-line or through the mail, so all sales must be in person. To purchase tickets, please email CCC Development Coordinator Jennifer Saxe.
