Coffee with Principal: After a several year hiatus due to COVID, I would like to invite you to join me for a remote meeting on Thursday, January 19th at 9:30am at Alcott. This is a casual, informal meeting and a great time to ask questions, listen and get to know more about Alcott. Registration is open for CCYS Winter Programs & Spring 2023 Travel and Intown Soccer. Travel soccer is open to players in grades 3 through 8. The travel registration deadline is JANUARY 6th. Intown soccer is open to players in grades Pre-K through 4. The intown registration deadline is MARCH 10th. Winter futsal sessions run Sunday mornings in Carlisle for players in grades 2-8. Winter futsal is a fun, low-cost option for your players this winter. Goalkeeping clinics will be held on Wednesday nights at Mill Works in Westford for players in grades 3-8. Music to Heal Little Hearts : The Concord, Carlisle, and Boston communities are invited to a holiday market and concert to support Chernihiv Children’s Hospital in Ukraine. December 17, 2022 at 6:30pm Harvard-Epworth Church 1555 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA Featuring award-winning classical musicians from the Boston-area. In the northern city of Chernihiv, only 55 miles from the Russian border, stands that region’s ONLY children’s hospital. It is here that children who have lost limbs are saved. They are learning how to sit, walk, and move their prosthetic arms and legs. They desperately need rehabilitation equipment, beds, and medication, to return to active lives. Join Ukraine Forward in bringing vital resources to these children. Sing along to holiday favorites, raise a glass to the brave people of Ukraine, enjoy bites of winter’s tasty treats, and finish your Christmas shopping with "just in” items from Ukraine. Alcott Before School Sports Alcott Before School Sports is a 6-week program open to Alcott School students, grades 1-5. In Session 3 of Winter Before School Sports, students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports/games like corn hole, roller racers, and spike ball - as well as gymnastics!
Business Sharks with Right Brain Curriculum Got an idea for a side-less taco, a shirt that never stains or a no-spill baby bottle? Then it’s time to put on your inventor’s hat and design the business of your dreams! As our Right Brain Curriculum teachers get you up to speed on business plans, market competition, budgets and presentation skills, you will bring your one-of-a-kind idea to life. You will design your flagship store, write and perform in your own TV commercial and create a prototype of a product that will change the lives of millions. Armed with your “elevator pitch” you will present your business to our volunteer panel of Sharks in the Shark Tank, persuading them to get behind your big idea!
Metrocraft with Right Brain Curriculum Join our community as we build and govern a world-class Minecraft city, complete with everything needed for incoming residents! Build, budget and furnish your own house. Plan a marketing campaign as you create your own business. Design a flag to represent your community after examining flags and their symbols and colors from around the world. Serve on the city council and vote to shape the city’s future as you help create a constitution of laws for your citizens. Plan public transportation routes and determine crucial city infrastructure. Our Right Brain Curriculum teachers will guide you through – demonstrating how math, economics, and community-building are key to a successful, working urban environment. STEM skills have never been so much fun!
Before School ASL (Gr. 3-5) At Concord Scholars, our mission is to provide intensive foreign language instruction to school-aged children and young adults in a creative, fun and interactive setting. Let your children be part of a community, where they may expand their world through language learning.
SkyHawks Floor Hockey Come join us and learn the skills of hockey! From stick handling to passing and shooting, we will develop and enhance the abilities to play the fastest game on (ice) the floor!
SkyHawks MiniHawks (Ages 4-6) This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, participants explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace.
SkyHawks Multisport (Ages 7-9) This t-ball, basketball, and soccer class uses age-appropriate games and activities to explore balance, hand-eye coordination, and skill development. Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe, and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life; such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship!
Beede Swim and Fitness Center’s Winter Vacation Program Come join the FUN with swimming, crafts and more! The Beede Center will be holding a winter break vacation program – 9:00am-3:00pm, December 27, 2022– December 30, 2022.
Concord AMP Auction to support the music programs! The Concord Association of Music Parents (Concord AMP) has launched its annual online auction at www.concordamp.org/auction. Concord AMP is a parent-led volunteer organization that raises money to support the music performing programs in the Concord Public Schools. The auction includes homemade treats, exclusive gifts, and sought-after services. We are especially thrilled that Heart Orthodontics, located on Main Street in West Concord, has donated a complete orthodontic treatment (value $7000). Other items include a stay at the Black Bear Lodge in Waterville Valley, NH; Boston Bruins tickets; bread from Nashoba Brook Bakery; a week of Concord Recreation summer camp; Thoreau Club adult fitness and group fitness membership; Beede Center family membership; BSO tickets; Radius Ensemble tickets; Concord Museum tickets; Nosh gift certificate; homemade pies; foreign language classes and ASL lessons from Concord Scholars, private music lessons; and more! Free Public Speaking & Debate Workshop During Vacation Break! Sign up for a free Public Speaking and Debate Workshop on December 27, 28, 29 (Lexington, Newton and Online), hosted by Lumos Debate! Brighten the Night with WBYC: December 20, 2022 Brighten the night with green luminary kits from William's Be Yourself Challenge (WBYC) Organization as we come together to shine a light on mental health and grief awareness and remember a beloved community member. On February 19, 2019, William Shaw died in a tragic ski accident. He was 9 years old, in 3rd grade at Carlisle Public School. Every year since, the Carlisle and Concord communities have lit luminaries on his birthday, Dec. 20. This year, WBYC is selling luminary kits with 14 lights - 13 for William's 13th birthday, plus 1 light for you to use in memory of a loved one you have lost.
