Garden Club of Concord - Project Proposals

The Garden Club of Concord is soliciting proposals from Concord community organizations for projects that support the preservation, restoration, and development of gardens and the natural environment of the Concord community. The Club’s grants program is funded entirely by proceeds from its annual May plant sale. Organizations recently benefiting from a GCC grant include Concord Land Trust, Minuteman Arc, Orchard House, Concord Museum, Concord-Carlisle High School, and Concord’s Gold Star Families. A GCC grants committee meets each fall to review proposals and make recommendations to the membership for formal approval. Efforts to include native plants are especially appreciated. Whenever possible the Club avoids funding labor costs and non-plant material. Details and applications are available at gardenclubofconcord.org. The deadline for applying is October 11.

Cub Scouts

Concord’s Cub Scout Pack 133 would love to invite interested kids to our first monthly Pack Meeting on September 11 at the Concord Scout House (74 Walden St.) and to participate in a model rocket launch at 2:00pm on Saturday September 21 (Rain Date Sunday) at South Meadow Field on Pilgrim Rd. in Concord. Our pack operates as a family pack, welcoming everyone regardless of gender, religion, or background. Cub Scouts provides grade-appropriate outdoor, service, and citizenship programming to kids in grades K-5. New members may join in any school year and advance with their peers without playing catch-up.

Concord Conservatory of Music

Concord Conservatory of Music is excited to announce its new Overture String Orchestra, designed for intermediate violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists in grades 4–8. While Overture String Orchestra players need not be current CCM students, they must be participating in private lessons from a qualified instructor. Stress free 5-minute placement auditions are on September 7 from 1-2 pm. Sign up by calling (978) 369-0010 or visiting concordconservatory.org.

Sign-up for a free class during the week of September 9-14. We encourage early registration due to limited spots in each class. Sign-up for your free trial group classes at ConcordConservatory.org. CCM is the area’s non-profit community music school located at 1317 Main Street in West Concord. Financial assistance is available.
