PTG Highlights: Back to School Nights + New Parent Coffee + Fall Parent Social

Back to School Nights

Back to School Night for Grades 3 through 5 Parents is on Tuesday, September 13 from 7 – 8:30 PM.  We will begin in the Auditorium at 7 PM. This is designed to be an adult only night.

Back to School Night for Kindergarten through Grade 2 Parents is Wednesday, September 14 from 7 – 8:30 PM.  We will begin in the Auditorium at 7 PM. This is designed to be an adult only night. 

Room parents will be collecting PTG dues at Back-to-School Night.  Alcott PTG dues are recommended at $30 per family (not student) but are not mandatory.  

The dues we collect, along with direct donations by our school community, and our fall fundraiser provide 100% of the Children's Enrichment Programming, teacher stipends, the Alcott Student Directory, community support for families in need and much more. The Alcott PTG spends around $115 per student per year to provide these programs. 

Dues can be paid by check (made out to Alcott PTG with dues in memo line), cash or credit card at Back-to-School Night. You can also pay online via PayPal.

New Parent Coffee

New Parent Coffee:  Are you ‘New or Feeling New to Alcott’?  We would like to invite you to drop-in at our New Parent Coffee on Friday, September 16, anytime from 9:30am to 11:30am.  Please join us at 221 Independence Road to meet other parents, have coffee, and treats.  We look forward to meeting you!

Parent Social!  

Parent Social! Take me out to the ballgame! is Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 7 PM.  This fun event will take place at the Corinthian Lodge in Concord Center. Tickets are $30 per ticket if paid by September 24th and $40 per ticket if paid after September 24th.  For tickets and information, please visit the Parent Socials page.

Welcome Back!

Room Parents Needed: We still need room parents for grades: K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th.  Being a room parent at Alcott is a special volunteer opportunity as our teachers welcome the support and the students enjoy seeing you in the classroom! Library Volunteers Needed: The Alcott School Library Media Center relies on a network of parent volunteers.  Under the guidance of a Library Volunteer Coordinator, volunteers are recruited and trained at the start of each school year and a volunteer schedule is created to cover all classes for that school year.  Volunteer tasks include: circulation of material, shelving and shelf reading, assisting students with book selection, and housekeeping. Elementary Band and Orchestra - Be Part of the Music!, TONIGHT, 6:30PM: Reminder to all new and prospective Band/Orchestra Students, tonight is the annual Instrumental Music Parent Orientation on at 6:30PM at CMS Sanborn.  We will be discussing expectations, schedule and other important information.  We hope to see all band and orchestra parents at this event.  If you or your child are still on the fence or have questions before you join, this is a fantastic opportunity to get some answers to inform your decision.  It’s much easier to quit than it is to start late!.  If you haven’t signed your 4th or 5th grader up, it’s not too late! Band Students: If your student is joining THE BAND next year, visit concordbands.org/elementary for important information regarding instrument rentals/required materials for this year and sign up for reminders at concordbands.org/reminders so that you can stay informed! First Day of School:  Wednesday, August 31st at 9AM for Alcott Elementary School.  Remember school ends at 3:30PM on Wednesdays.

Volunteer Opportunities for 2016-2017! Alcott Elementary School not only has the best staff and teachers, but the greatest volunteers! Our PTG is a group of parents who are involved in Alcott in many different ways. Some are behind the scenes, while others are in the school managing various tasks and student activities. We want our children to have a wonderful experience at Alcott and we want YOU to be a part of this caring community!
