School Advisory Council: We have one opening for a parent who is interested in serving on Alcott's School Advisory Council (SAC). This council is made up of parents, teachers, community members and the school principal. Parents serve a two year term on the advisory council, and meet approximately 6 times a year (meetings at 8am). The main responsibilities of the SAC are to ensure the successful completion of the School Improvement Plan, review the school budget, and to serve as an advisory board to the school principal. All interested parents should submit their names to PTG President Kristen Tyson @krissytyson@icloud.com by October 15. If there is more than one person interested in the position, the PTG will hold an election in accordance with the policy of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, at the PTG Open Meeting in November, in which the entire Alcott parent community can vote. For more information on the role of School Advisory Councils click here.
