PTG Highlights: Parent Social Tickets, Alcott Wear, Fall Fest, Spirit Wear

Looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday at 6pm for the Alcott Parent Social at The Driscoll’s home - 37 Birch Drive! Come support the PTG and have fun doing so! Alcott Store now open! Show your school spirit and support the Alcott PTG this year with great Alcott Wear! This fall we are offering Flannel Pants in three new great colors! Hoodie Sweatshirts in six colors. New this year, Alcott Sweatpants! A fun youth duffle bag to tote all your things and a picnic blanket great for all those soccer games and times at the park. You can also pick up an Alcott Car Magnet and dismissal note pads. Samples will be in the office and it’s highly recommended for size. The Alcott Student Garden Project has lift off! With the approval of our school committee, we will be renovating and expanding the student garden to be able to accommodate a wide range of future garden programming on the Alcott campus. Please click here for more details about the garden renovation, as well as how to volunteer and make donations to the student garden fund. Student Garden Project Committee meetings scheduled through the fall @ 11:30 am on Fridays 9/21, 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/30. Please check-in at Alcott office and you will be directed to location. PTG Highlights: METCO Late Bus, PTG Meeting, Parent Social Tickets, Back to School Night

The first METCO late bus of the year is Tuesday, 9/11.  The bus leaves Alcott School for Boston promptly at 3:00PM and will stop at Franklin Park only.

Join us for this year’s first PTG Meeting taking place on Wednesday, September 12th at 9:15AM in the Faculty Room. Hope to see you there! 

Back to School Night is Wednesday, 9/12:  Mark you calendar for the K – 5 Back to School Night on September 12th.  The schedule is as follows:  GR 2 & 3 – 6:30 – 7:00; GR K & 1 – 7:00 – 7:30; GR 4 & 5 – 7:30 – 8:00 PM.  Principal, Specialists, and PTG Representatives will be in the Café from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

Under the guidance of Library Volunteer Coordinators, volunteers are recruited and trained at the start of each school year and a volunteer schedule is created to cover all classes for that school year. Volunteer tasks include: circulation of material, shelving and shelf reading, assisting students with book selection, and housekeeping. Volunteers are asked to commit to a biweekly or weekly schedule. Openings remain in the following classes: Wilson, Gregor, Woodman, McSweeney. PTG Highlights: Welcome Back, Library Volunteers Needed

First day of school for students for the 2018-2019 School Year is Wednesday, August 29.  School begins promptly at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:30 PM for all students.  Students will attend school on Wednesday, August 29 and Thursday, August 30.  Friday, August 31 and Monday, September 3 the school will be closed for the long Labor Day weekend. 

Library Volunteers Still Needed:  The Alcott School Library Media Center relies on a network of parent volunteers. Under the guidance of Library Volunteer Coordinators, volunteers are recruited and trained at the start of each school year and a volunteer schedule is created to cover all classes for that school year.
