PTG Highlights: Fall Fest, Principal Coffee, Parent Social, Fall Workshops, Library Volunteers Needed, Happening at Alcott

Alcott Fall Fest - Save the Date! This year’s Alcott Annual Fall Fest is Saturday October 19th from 1-4 pm. Fall Fest is a fun day full of activities for Alcott families and would not happen without the help of parents who volunteer. We have many opportunities no matter your schedule or interest. We still need parents to join the planning committee. If you are able to help plan this popular event, please email Lynn Morel at Alcottfallfestvolunteers@gmail.com. We also have many opportunities to help both prior to the event and the day of the event. Please see the openings at the Sign Up Genius link. Thank you! 2019 Fall Fest Volunteer Sign Ups

Coffee with the Principal: Our new principal Naomi Krakow will be hosting several informal meet and greets for families throughout the year, with the first one taking place on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 9:30am. Come meet the principal and ask questions!

Parent Social: Please join us for the 2019 Alcott School Parent Social! Friday, September 27th at 6pm. The Ryan's House 27 Birth Drive. Bring a dish to share and your favorite lawn chair! Donations will be accepted at the door and will go to support the Alcott PTG.

Alcott Fall Workshops are here! Looking for before or after school enrichment for your child? Click to view the list of fall workshop offerings here. Start your child’s day off right with a new Mindfulness class, or feel good participating in the community service/Kindness workshop. Stretch your body with Before School Sports or Bollywood dance. Stretch your mind making Stop Motion movies or STEM with Legos. Registrations begin September 12th at 7am through the online system, Family ID. All classes are held at the Alcott School. Financial Aid is available, and all requests remain confidential. Click here to register online, or here for complete registration instructions. Look for the program flyer in your back pack this week. Any questions, contact the PTG workshop coordinators at alcottworkshops@gmail.com.

Library Volunteers Needed: The Alcott School Library Media Center relies on a network of parent volunteers. Under the guidance of Library Volunteer Coordinators, volunteers are recruited and trained at the start of each school year, and a volunteer schedule is created to cover all classes for that school year. Volunteer tasks include: circulation of material, shelving and shelf reading, assisting students with book selection, and housekeeping. Volunteers are asked to commit to a biweekly or weekly schedule. Openings remain in the following classes: Gleason, Woodman and McSweeney. If you are interested in volunteering, please click here.

The Parent at Lunch Program: Each month parents have the opportunity to join their child (or children) at lunch! The first Parent at Lunch for this school year is Friday September 27th. The sign up for the lunch is via the Google documents link here. The program is limited to 8 spots per grade and the office must be able to verify your CORI status for you to attend. The name you sign up with on the Google Doc should match the name on your license EXACTLY. In order to attend PAL, you must have an approved CORI on file with Alcott. CORI’s are valid for 3 years and each organization/school is required to have their own CORI. When you complete the CORI form, the school must also view a photo ID such as a driver’s license. Back to School night is a good opportunity to complete the form. Once a grade is full, we use a wait list for the next month. Names on the wait list have priority for the next month’s lunch. For more information, please click here.

Get to know the SEPAC: It is a volunteer parent advisory council that advises the school committees and administration on matters pertaining to the education and safety of children with disabilities. In addition, through social events, and informative presentations we support, connect, and educate parents, caregivers and the community about special education. We are here to support you throughout you and your child’s educational journey in our schools. For more information, please see this letter.

Concord Community Events: Please see the Community Events page for updates on sports, music and theater registration dates, seminars, and more events throughout town. Don’t miss out on the dates you need to know!
